The Petzl Spatha has a blade that has been styled to be able to cut rope or cord easily and quickly. This is achieved by the blade being both smooth and serrated. The Spatha is a must for working at heights or mountaineering where ropes may need to be cut.

The blade pivots on the textured wheel that has a hole through the centre, large enough to clip a carabiner through or even a Petzl Caritool. In use the blade is opened by the notch in the blade or by turning the wheel while holding the handle, good if you're wearing gloves. Once open there is a locking mechanism preventing the blade from folding closed onto your fingers.
