Arcteryx Womens Beta Jacket
The Arc'teryx Women's Beta Jacket is a GORE-TEX ePE waterproof and breathable jacket that is at home both in the mountains and around town. The Beta features a 80 denier recycled Nylon outer that is durable enough for every day use and light and packable enough to go in your hiking pack for spring and summer hikes. A soft feel GORE-TEX C-KNIT inside is comfortable even over just a T-shirt and prevents the clammy feeling that other membranes can get in warmer weather. The classic Arc'teryx clean lines and understated features don't look out of place rolling straight off the hill and into your daily commute. The Arc'teryx Beta Jacket is a fantastic all rounder waterproof jacket.
GORE-TEX ePE is a totally PFC free waterproof membrane designed by Gore to be more sustainable and cut out harmful long chain 'forever chemicals' found in normal PTFE waterproof membranes. The ePE membrane is a thinner than standard GORE-TEX and GORE-TEX PRO, which results in a softer and more supple feel. It doesn't have the same stiff 'cardboardy' feel as older Gore membranes. The biggest performance difference you are most likely to notice is the DWR treatment. Unfortunately flurocarbons are some of the best, most hydrophobic chemicals out there. Getting rid of them does hit performance so you will notice that the nice 'beading' effect disappears quite quickly. Don't worry your GORE-TEX ePE jacket is still waterproof, but to maintain the beading effect you will need to top up the DWR more regularly
The Beta Jacket is trim fit with articulated patterning in the arms to allow for full freedom of movement. THe low profile hood can be adjusted to fit snugly on windy days using a single point adjuster. There are two large hand pockets with water resistant zips for essentials and maps. There is also in internal zipped security pocket for small items. The hem has a dual point adjustment to seal out drafts.
